Rushine De Reuck seals Simba SC win to restore five-point NBC Premier League lead

Former Mamelodi Sundowns defender Rushine De Reuck scored the only goal as Simba SC beat Fountain Gate 1-0 on Thursday to move five points clear at the top of the NBC Premier League.

Simba began the match two points ahead of Young Africans, having taken advantage of their 2-1 victory over Mashujaa FC two days earlier. Their latest win restored the five-point advantage and extended their unbeaten run to 34 matches.

The opening stages were slow, with Fountain Gate making the game a physical contest. Simba eventually broke the deadlock after 34 minutes when De Reuck rose to head in from a corner.

The intensity increased before half-time, with Fountain Gate picking up three yellow cards as the visitors sought to disrupt Simba’s control of the match.

Simba were forced to manage the game carefully after the break, as Fountain Gate continued to press for an equaliser. However, the league leaders’ defence held firm and secured another clean sheet.

Barker’s side remain the NBC Premier League’s best defensive team, having conceded only four goals in nine matches. The result leaves Simba on 27 points from nine games and five points clear at the summit.

Simba will next turn their attention to a home fixture against in-form Namungo FC as they look to maintain their impressive winning run.
