DR Congo international Samuel Moutoussamy has suffered a potential injury setback after scoring for Atromitos in their Greek Cup encounter against Volos on Thursday, October 29.

The experienced midfielder enjoyed a mixed afternoon, finding the back of the net to make his contribution to the contest before being forced off with an injury in the 32nd minute.

Moutoussamy’s early departure came as a major concern for Atromitos, particularly after the midfielder had demonstrated his attacking qualities by getting on the scoresheet.

However, the exact nature and severity of the injury remain unknown, with further medical assessments expected to determine the extent of the problem and how long he could spend on the sidelines.

His situation has also raised concerns within the DR Congo national team setup, with the Leopards preparing for an important double-header against Sierra Leone in November.

The two sides are scheduled to meet on November 12 and 17 in the third and fourth matchdays of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.

DR Congo head coach Sébastien Desabre will be monitoring the midfielder’s condition closely as he considers his squad for the upcoming assignments.

Moutoussamy has established himself as an important figure in Desabre’s midfield, bringing experience, tactical discipline and energy to the Leopards’ setup.

His possible absence would therefore represent a setback for the Congolese national team as they seek to maintain their momentum in the qualifying campaign.

The technical team will be hoping that the injury sustained against Volos is not serious enough to rule him out of the November fixtures.

For now, DR Congo supporters will have to wait for further updates on the midfielder’s condition, with his availability for the double-header against Sierra Leone remaining uncertain.
