The UAE Squash Federation has extended its agreement with Egyptian Omar El Sherbiny, who will continue as the organisation’s technical adviser.
El Sherbiny began working as executive secretary and representative of the UAE Squash Federation in the technical adviser role in August 2024. The federation has now decided to renew its confidence in him and retain him in the position.
The decision comes as the UAE Squash Federation continues its plan to develop the sport and increase its popularity ahead of the next phase of its work. That strategy was launched in August 2024.
El Sherbiny confirmed the extension in a message published on his official account.
“I am happy and honoured to have the confidence renewed and to continue my journey with the UAE Squash Federation for a new period as technical adviser, in cooperation with the new board,” he wrote.
He added: “I am proud to be part of the journey to develop squash in the United Arab Emirates, and excited to continue building on what we have achieved and working towards a bigger and stronger future for the sport.”
Concluding his message, El Sherbiny said: “The journey continues, and we still have a lot to offer! Our next appointment is the UAE National Squash Open, the biggest tournament of the season.”
Before taking up his role with the UAE Squash Federation, El Sherbiny worked as the manager of his sister Nour El Sherbini, the world number one in squash.
He has also been involved in organising the hosting of domestic and international squash tournaments in Egypt.
