AS Monaco lead race to sign Slavia Prague midfielder David Moses

AS Monaco are currently the leading contenders to sign Slavia Prague midfielder David Moses during the January transfer window, according to Footy-Africa.

The 22-year-old Nigeria international has attracted interest from a number of European clubs after making significant progress in the Czech Republic. Monaco have reportedly made enquiries about the player and are monitoring his development closely.

Moses has been with Slavia Prague since January 2025, when he joined from fellow Czech club MFK Karvina. He has since established himself in the team’s midfield, with his energy, technical ability and tactical awareness making him an important member of the squad.

His performances last season helped strengthen his reputation as Slavia Prague won the Czech title. He has continued to impress this campaign, increasing interest in his situation ahead of the winter window.

Monaco move ahead of Roma

Several clubs are understood to be tracking Moses, but Monaco appear to have made the strongest early move. A source from the agency representing the midfielder told Footy-Africa that interest in the player is growing.

The same source said Slavia Prague would be prepared to consider a departure if suitable terms could be agreed by all parties.

Reports of interest from AS Roma, first revealed exclusively by Africafoot, have been played down by Moses’ representative. No concrete contact has been established with the Italian club, according to the representative.

The situation is understood to be different in Monaco’s case. The Ligue 1 club has made enquiries and is following Moses’ progress, placing it at the front of the queue for his signature.

“Monaco is the favourite,” his representative said.

That position does not guarantee a move in January. Slavia Prague remain in a strong negotiating position because Moses is under contract with the club until 2029.

Transfer fee estimated at 10m euros

Moses’ market value is estimated at 10m euros, a figure that could play an important role in negotiations. Clubs from France and Italy are also reportedly keeping a close watch on the midfielder’s availability.

No transfer has been officially announced, and it remains to be seen whether Monaco will turn their interest into a formal offer during the winter window.

A move to Ligue 1 would represent another step in Moses’ career and give the young Nigeria midfielder the opportunity to continue his development in a more prominent championship. For now, Monaco appear to hold the advantage in the pursuit of a player whose performances for Slavia Prague have brought him increasing attention across Europe.
