Burkina Faso international Sacha Banse says his long-held ambition of playing in Germany was part of his childhood dreams after moving from Standard de Liege to Greuther Furth.
Speaking to Tribuna, the midfielder looked back on his hopes of one day appearing in Germany, potentially even in the Bundesliga, and discussed how his career has developed since entering professional football.
Before reaching that level, Banse imagined playing in major stadiums in front of thousands of supporters. His move to Greuther Furth has brought him closer to that ambition and given him the opportunity to experience German football first-hand.
However, the midfielder also acknowledged that a professional career does not always follow the path a player expects. His injury had a significant effect on how he views the demands of the game, teaching him the importance of patience when dealing with unforeseen setbacks.
The experience has also influenced his approach away from the pitch. Banse believes difficulties are an unavoidable part of a footballer’s development and can provide opportunities to improve both as a player and as a person.
Despite the obstacles he has encountered, the Burkina Faso international remains positive as he continues to pursue his ambitions in Germany. His outlook is shaped by the belief that setbacks can contribute to long-term progress rather than define a career.
Greuther Furth are due to face Holstein Kiel in their next match of the 10th round of the German second division.
