Peter Shalulile helps Young Africans fight back to beat Mashujaa SC

Young Africans began life after Manqoba Mngqithi with a 2-1 comeback victory over Mashujaa SC, as Peter Shalulile scored again to help close the gap on Tanzanian Premier League leaders Simba SC.

Yanga were forced to recover after falling behind in the 17th minute, leaving them with a difficult task in their first match since Mngqithi’s departure.

They responded quickly, however, with Shalulile restoring parity five minutes later. The forward was set up by Stephane Aziz Ki as the home side levelled the contest.

Neither team was able to find another goal before half-time, with the scores still tied at the interval.

Young Africans eventually completed the turnaround in the 79th minute when Clement Mzizi put them ahead.

The result moves Yanga to within two points of their bitter rivals Simba SC at the top of the standings, while Young Africans also have a game in hand.

Mngqithi’s former assistant, Simo Dladla, took charge of the match following the dismissal of the former Mamelodi Sundowns and Golden Arrows head coach over the weekend.
