Kaizer Chiefs name starting XI for Carling Knockout clash with TS Galaxy

Kaizer Chiefs will look to recover from another cup disappointment when they host TS Galaxy in a Carling Knockout last-16 tie at FNB Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The Amakhosi were eliminated from the CAF Confederation Cup in the second preliminary round last Friday, losing to Zambia’s Red Arrows on post-match penalties in Durban.

That result ended another of Kaizer Chiefs’ early attempts to secure silverware. They were also knocked out at the first hurdle of the MTN8 in August, when Golden Arrows defeated them.

TS Galaxy arrive in Johannesburg struggling for form. The Rockets have lost their past three matches, including a 3-0 defeat by defending champions Orlando Pirates in their most recent Betway Premiership fixture.

Their wider record is also a concern, with TS Galaxy having won only one of their eight matches so far this season. The club have already changed managers after Bernard Parker was dismissed.

Despite the contrasting cup histories and current form, recent meetings between the teams have been closely contested. Kaizer Chiefs and TS Galaxy have drawn four of their past five matches, with the only victory in that sequence going to the Soweto giants towards the end of last season.

Kick-off is scheduled for 19h00.

Kaizer Chiefs will begin with Brandon Petersen in goal, supported by Reeve Frosler, Zitha Moloisane, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, Happy Mashiane, Samkelo Maboe, Sibongiseni Mthethwa, Mduduzi Vilakazi, Mduduzi Shabalala, Pule Mmodi and Wandile Duba.

TS Galaxy’s starting line-up has not yet been confirmed.
