Moussa Diaby ruled out of Bayer Leverkusen fixtures with thigh injury
Bayer Leverkusen will be without Moussa Diaby for their upcoming matches after the winger sustained a thigh injury during Sunday’s 3-0 defeat by Hoffenheim.
The 27-year-old is expected to return after the November international break, following medical examinations that confirmed a fascial injury to the back of his right thigh.
Diaby experienced pain in his right hamstring in the 36th minute of Sunday’s Bundesliga encounter. He attempted to continue playing despite the discomfort but was replaced by Malik Tillman five minutes later.
Leverkusen confirmed the injury on Tuesday, 27 October, announcing that the winger would miss the club’s upcoming fixtures as he recovers.
The German side also sent a message of support to the player, wishing him a speedy recovery and expressing hope that he would return soon.
Diaby picks up injury against Hoffenheim
The injury occurred during a difficult match for Leverkusen, who suffered a 3-0 defeat against Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga.
Diaby felt pain in his right thigh during the first half and initially tried to play through the discomfort. However, he was unable to continue and made way for Tillman in the 41st minute.
Medical examinations carried out after the match revealed a “fascial injury to the back of his right thigh.”
Following the assessment, Leverkusen confirmed that the 27-year-old would be unavailable for their next matches. The club expects him to return after the November international break, although no specific comeback date has been announced.
The setback means Diaby will spend time away from competitive action as he works towards recovering from the injury.
Leverkusen face key fixtures without Diaby
Diaby’s absence comes at a demanding point in Leverkusen’s schedule, with several important matches approaching across domestic and European competitions.
The winger is set to miss Wednesday’s German Cup match against Nuremberg. His injury will also keep him out of upcoming Bundesliga fixtures and European competition matches before the November international break.
Leverkusen must now prepare for those games without the 27-year-old, who was forced off early during their defeat by Hoffenheim.
The club will have to work with its available attacking options while Diaby focuses on his recovery. His absence is an added setback following Sunday’s result, which saw Leverkusen lose 3-0.
Diaby expected back after international break
Leverkusen are hopeful that Diaby will be able to return to action after the November international break.
For now, the winger will concentrate on recovering from the fascial injury affecting the back of his right thigh. His progress will determine when he can resume training and return to competitive football.
The German club has not provided a precise date for his comeback but has confirmed that he will miss the upcoming matches.
Leverkusen will continue their campaign in the German Cup, Bundesliga and European competition while waiting for the 27-year-old to recover.
