The Ballon d’Or awards ceremony in London will begin 30 minutes later than planned on Monday evening after traffic problems affected the area around the event.
The ceremony had been due to start at 20:00 GMT, but has been moved to 20:30 GMT (23:30 Mecca time).
According to several media reports, Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane, Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe and Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal are the leading contenders for the prestigious award.
The delay was linked to large crowds of supporters and a substantial gathering in and around the venue, according to British newspaper The Independent. The congestion meant guests were held up as they tried to reach the red carpet, forcing organisers to push back the start of the ceremony.
The event will be hosted by Kate Scott and Thierry Henry.
The winner of the Ballon d’Or is expected to be announced at about 22:00 GMT (01:00 Mecca time).
