Wael Mohya: German-Moroccan teenager linked with Leverkusen move
German-Moroccan attacking midfielder Wael Mohya is being linked with a move from Borussia Monchengladbach to Bundesliga rivals Bayer Leverkusen.
Mohya, 17, has made seven Bundesliga appearances for Monchengladbach this season, scoring twice and providing one assist. He has started 57% of the club’s league matches and has also scored in his only appearance in the DFB-Pokal.
The teenager joined Monchengladbach’s senior set-up in July 2025 after progressing through the club’s youth system and Under-19 side. His recent rise follows a 2024-25 campaign in which he helped Monchengladbach’s Under-17 team win the German Under-17 Bundesliga title.
Mohya was born in Mettmann and is eligible to represent both Germany and Morocco. He is listed as an attacking midfielder and can play with either foot.
Leverkusen and Monchengladbach compete in the Bundesliga, with Mohya’s emergence at first-team level now placing him on the radar of another top-flight club. A transfer fee or agreement has not been established, and the move remains at the rumour stage.
Mohya’s current market value is listed at €17m, reflecting his status as one of Monchengladbach’s young first-team players.
