Paris Saint-Germain beat Lyon to move top of Ligue 1

Paris Saint-Germain moved to the top of Ligue 1 for the first time this season after beating Olympique Lyonnais 2-0 at the Parc des Princes.

The victory took Paris Saint-Germain to 17 points after eight matches, one ahead of second-placed Rennes. Olympique Lyonnais remain fifth on 14 points.

Lyon had the better of the first half and created the clearer opportunities, but neither side could break the deadlock before the interval.

Paris Saint-Germain improved after the restart and gradually took control of the match. Their pressure was rewarded in the 72nd minute when Mayulu opened the scoring with a powerful strike from outside the penalty area.

The hosts added a second goal 12 minutes later. Mika Godts collected a pass from Quentin Ndjantou before finishing from the edge of the box to seal the win.

Paris Saint-Germain will next face Le Havre on Friday, 30 October, while Olympique Lyonnais host Angers on Saturday, 31 October.
