Morocco will be represented across three distinct categories at the Ballon d’Or awards, with Achraf Hakimi competing for the men’s main prize, Yassine Bounou shortlisted for the Yashin Trophy and Ayyoub Bouaddi nominated among the leading young players.
The trio feature on the nomination lists announced by France Football for the 2025-26 season, underlining the range of Moroccan talent from established stars to goalkeepers and emerging prospects.
Hakimi’s inclusion follows an impressive campaign with Paris Saint-Germain. The defender scored 8 goals and provided 10 assists, while helping the club win several major honours, including Ligue 1, the UEFA Champions League and the Club World Cup.
Those achievements have earned Hakimi a place in the race for the Ballon d’Or, football’s leading individual award.
Bounou is in contention for the Yashin Trophy, awarded to the best goalkeeper. His nomination is based on his performances for Al Hilal in the Roshn Saudi League as well as his contribution at the 2026 World Cup, where he faced a series of demanding attacks and decisive moments in front of goal.
Bouaddi completes the Moroccan presence in the young player category. He has attracted attention for his ability to contribute defensively while also helping his team build attacks.
At no more than 18 years old, Bouaddi gives Morocco’s showing at the awards a clear focus on the future. He represents an emerging generation seeking to establish itself among the young talents attracting widespread interest across European football.
