Reports that Patrick Maswanganyi and Al-Khaldiya SC had agreed to end the midfielder’s contract have been rejected, with a source confirming that the South African remains with the Bahraini club.
Speculation on social media over the weekend suggested that Maswanganyi’s time at Al-Khaldiya SC could be coming to an early end. Some of the claims linked the alleged departure to disciplinary concerns.
However, those reports have been disputed, with an indication that the former Orlando Pirates player remains part of the club’s plans.
“There is no truth to those reports. He is still with the club and played over the weekend. The club appreciates him, and he is happy,” a source said.
The clarification comes after claims that Maswanganyi and Al-Khaldiya SC were preparing to part ways. The source maintained that the midfielder is still at the club and that no agreement has been reached to terminate his contract.
Maswanganyi joined Al-Khaldiya SC in August 2026, ending his spell with Orlando Pirates. During his time with the Soweto club, he established himself as an important member of the squad.
His technical ability, creativity and influence in attack made him a significant player in the Betway Premiership. He was among those expected to provide invention in the final third, linking play and helping create chances for his team-mates.
The move to Bahrain marked the end of a chapter with Orlando Pirates and gave Maswanganyi the opportunity to continue his career outside South Africa after making an impression in Mzansi.
As a player who had held an important role at Pirates, any reports concerning his future were likely to attract attention, particularly so soon after his move abroad.
The latest information, however, is that Maswanganyi remains with Al-Khaldiya SC, where he is understood to be settled and valued by the club.
