Abiola Dauda backs Leonard Ngege to become a leading player at Leeds United

Former Nigeria striker and agent Abiola Dauda believes Leonard Ngege has the ability to establish himself as a top player at Leeds United.

Dauda said the 18-year-old defender fully deserved the opportunity he had been given by the English club and had the qualities required to develop into an outstanding footballer.

“Ngege will become a top player at Leeds,” Dauda told Africafoot, while praising Leeds United for placing its trust in the young Nigerian.

Ngege joined Leeds United in January 2026 after spells with Ikorodu City and Remo Stars. The central defender signed a contract running until the end of the 2026/27 season and is continuing his development within the club’s youth teams.

Despite his age, Ngege already has senior-level experience. He has represented the Nigeria national team and has also played in the CAF Champions League.

Dauda also discussed the situation of fellow player Chike Mbah during the interview. Mbah’s trial with Queens Park Rangers did not lead to a contract before he moved to OFK Belgrade in Serbia.

The agent additionally identified the Swedish league as a valuable platform for young African players seeking to develop their careers in Europe.

Leeds United are scheduled to face Bournemouth in their next match of the ninth round of the English championship.

The match odds listed by 1xbet are 3.10 for a Leeds United victory, 3.20 for a draw and 2.00 for a Bournemouth win.
