Cameroon invite five new players for qualifiers

Cameroon head coach David Pagou has handed maiden senior national team call-ups to five players ahead of the Indomitable Lions’ double-header against Namibia in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The selections form part of Pagou’s squad for the November 2026 international break, as Cameroon prepare for the third and fourth rounds of qualifying scheduled for November 12 and 16.

Among the new faces is Ivan Jordan Nana, captain of Cameroon’s Under-20 team, who has earned his first senior call-up following his impressive performances at the 2026 UNIFFAC U20 tournament, where the young Lions emerged champions.

Nana’s inclusion rewards his contributions to the successful youth campaign and offers him an opportunity to make the step up to the senior national team.

He is joined by Karl Wassom of Latvian club Riga FC, Patrick Nkoa Amougou of Belgian side RAAL La Louvière, Yvan Nana of Sudanese club Al Hilal and Jean Hugues Eyango Priso of Colombe Sportive, who have also received their first invitations to the Indomitable Lions squad.

Geovanni Vianney, who plays for Copenhagen, is another new face included in the selection, as Pagou looks to assess additional options ahead of the crucial qualifying fixtures.

The inclusion of emerging talents reflects the coach’s willingness to expand his pool of players while providing opportunities for footballers who have impressed at club and youth international level.

For Ivan Jordan Nana, in particular, the call-up represents an important milestone after captaining Cameroon’s Under-20 side to success at the regional tournament. He will now have the opportunity to train alongside established internationals and compete for a place in the senior team.

Cameroon will face Namibia on November 12 and 16 in a double-header that could prove significant in their pursuit of qualification for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

The two encounters will also give Pagou an opportunity to evaluate his new selections and determine how they fit into his plans for the Indomitable Lions.

With several fresh faces entering the squad, attention will now turn to whether the newcomers can make an immediate impact and translate their performances at club and youth level into opportunities with the senior national team.
