Liverpool ready to trigger €30m release clause for Spanish-Nigeria talent David Otorbi
Spanish international of Nigerian descent David Otorbi have emerged as a top transfer target for Premier League giants Liverpool.
Otorbi, who plies his trade for Valencia has attracted significant interest, with Liverpool said to be ready to trigger his €30 million release clause.
As per reports, the Premier League club’s interest has prompted Valencia to take immediate steps to secure the long-term future of their academy product.
Valencia’s management has reportedly informed Otorbi’s representatives of its intention to activate an option to extend his current contract by a further three years, keeping him at the Mestalla until the summer of 2031.
The proposed extension would also see the winger’s release clause rise from €30 million to €60 million, a move that could significantly complicate Liverpool’s pursuit of the youngster.
The Spanish club are keen to maintain control over Otorbi’s future amid growing interest from abroad, with the improved contractual terms expected to strengthen their position in any potential negotiations.
Otorbi has emerged as one of Valencia’s most highly regarded young prospects, having made history as the youngest debutant in the club’s history.
His development has attracted attention from Liverpool, who continue to monitor his progress as they assess potential additions to their attacking options.
Despite Valencia’s efforts to secure his services on an improved deal, Liverpool are reportedly keeping the situation under close observation and have not ruled out revisiting their interest in the future.
The Merseyside club’s reported willingness to meet the existing €30 million release clause underlines the level of interest in the young winger, although no completed transfer or formal agreement has been confirmed.
Otorbi has made nine appearances for Valencia across all competitions during the 2026/27 season, scoring one goal, according to the figures provided.
His performances have continued to strengthen his reputation as a promising prospect, while Valencia’s proposed contract extension reflects the club’s desire to protect one of its prized academy graduates.
If the new agreement is finalised, Liverpool could face a significantly higher financial barrier to securing the teenager’s signature, with the release clause expected to double to €60 million.
For now, Otorbi remains a Valencia player, and attention will turn to whether Liverpool decide to formalise their reported interest or wait for further developments in the youngster’s career.
