Egypt invite Salah, Marmoush and eight other foreign players for AFCON 2027 qualifiers

The Egyptian Football Association has sent invitation to 10 Egyptian players plying their trade in European and Arab leagues ahead of the 2027 AFCON qualifiers in November.

The Pharaohs are preparing for their next two Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches, with Mohamed Salah among the prominent names included in the preliminary list as Egypt look to strengthen their squad for the upcoming fixtures.

According to a well-informed source within the Egyptian Football Association, the squad is expected to feature the 10 players listed, with Younes Ibrahim and Mostafa Mohamed reportedly left out of consideration.

Salah headlines the list alongside Omar Marmoush, Mohamed Abdelmonem and Ibrahim Adel, as the Egyptian technical team looks to draw on the experience and quality of players competing outside the domestic league.

Other players named in the list include Haitham Hassan, Hamza Abdelkarim, Hossam Abdelmajid, Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet, Hamdi Fathi and Rami Rabia.

The inclusion of players based in different European and Arab leagues is expected to provide the technical team with additional options as preparations intensify for the November international window.

Egypt will be keen to maintain their competitive edge in the AFCON qualifying campaign, with the upcoming matches presenting another opportunity to assess the squad and build momentum ahead of the continental tournament.

The reported list comprises Mohamed Salah (Trabzonspor, Turkey), Omar Marmoush (Tottenham Hotspur, England), Mohamed Abdelmonem (Nice, France), Ibrahim Adel (Nordsjælland, Denmark), Haitham Hassan (Celtic, Scotland), Hamza Abdelkarim (Barcelona, Spain), Hossam Abdelmajid (Ludogorets, Bulgaria), Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet (Al-Riyadh, Saudi Arabia), Hamdi Fathi (Al-Wakrah, Qatar) and Rami Rabia (Al-Ain, United Arab Emirates).

The Egyptian FA is yet to be confirmed as having officially announced the final squad, meaning further changes could be made before the team assembles for the November camp.
