Cameroon coach Pagou names squad for qualifiers

Cameroon head coach David Pagou has named his squad for the upcoming double-header against Namibia in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, with defender Enzo Ebosse returning to the Indomitable Lions after nearly four years absence.

Pagou announced his squad on Monday, October 26, ahead of the third and fourth rounds of qualifying, scheduled for November 12 and 16.

Ebosse, who plays for Italian club Udinese, is among the notable inclusions in the squad, having not featured for Cameroon since the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

His return offers the technical team another option in defence as the Central African nation prepares for two important encounters against Namibia in its bid to secure qualification for the continental showpiece.

Pagou has also handed opportunities to players from the domestic league, underlining his willingness to broaden the pool of talent available to the national team.

Colombe Sportive goalkeeper Sombang Menang Edouard and midfielder Jean Hugues Eyango Priso are among the locally based players included in the squad.

The selection features a blend of established internationals, emerging talents and players seeking to establish themselves in the Indomitable Lions setup.

Cameroon will be looking to make the most of the two fixtures as the race for places at the 2027 AFCON continues. The double-header will provide Pagou with an opportunity to assess his squad while collecting crucial points in the qualifying campaign.

The two matches against Namibia will be important for Cameroon as they seek to strengthen their position in the qualifying group and move closer to securing a place at the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
