Anis Hadj Moussa has been compared to Barcelona star Lamine Yamal by Dutch coach Ron Jans after his impressive performance for Feyenoord against PSV Eindhoven.

The Algerian international produced a moment of individual brilliance in the 1-1 draw, scoring with a curling effort into the far corner to earn praise for his technical ability and influence on matches.

Hadj Moussa’s goal came after a relatively quiet first half, but the forward showed his quality when the opportunity arrived. His ability to beat defenders and produce decisive moments has continued to attract attention in the Eredivisie.

Speaking on NOS Studio Sport, Jans was particularly impressed by the Feyenoord forward and suggested that his performances were comparable to those of Yamal, one of the most highly regarded young talents in world football.

“We should really be delighted that he’s still playing in the Netherlands. This lad decides the outcome of matches. He’s simply on the same level as Lamine Yamal. He’s truly a player you enjoy watching. We know he can do these kinds of things, that he’s capable of them. A magnificent goal,” he exclaimed.

Jans’ comments underline the growing appreciation for Hadj Moussa’s ability to influence games through his individual quality. The coach highlighted the forward’s technical skills and ability to overcome opponents, qualities that were on display again against PSV.

The Dutch coach also disclosed that he had previously considered bringing Hadj Moussa to FC Utrecht during his time in charge of the club.

However, there had been concerns about the player’s contribution to the defensive side of the game, with Jans hearing warnings about his work rate without the ball.

Despite those reservations, the coach remained impressed by the forward’s attacking ability and revealed that Hadj Moussa had personally contacted him when he eventually decided to join Feyenoord instead.

“It looked very promising. I’d heard a lot of ‘Sveillance: don’t do it, because he doesn’t defend.’ But he’s so phenomenal. He called me back then, when I was at Utrecht, to tell me he was ultimately going to Feyenoord. Yes, it was a good choice.”

Hadj Moussa’s decision to join Feyenoord has so far proved productive, with the attacker establishing himself as an influential figure for the Dutch side.
