Red Arrows coach Chisi Mbewe rewarded with Toyota Mark X after Kaizer Chiefs upset

Red Arrows coach Chisi Mbewe has been presented with a Toyota Mark X after guiding the Zambian club past Kaizer Chiefs and into the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Red Arrows secured a 1-0 lead in the first leg of their second preliminary-round tie before completing the upset in the return match in Durban. The Zambian side eliminated the Soweto club on penalties, ending Kaizer Chiefs’ hopes of progressing in the competition.

Mbewe received the car from Zambia Air Force Commander and Red Arrows patron Lieutenant General Oscar Musitu Nyoni after the team’s achievement.

The club announced the reward when the players and coaching staff returned from South Africa on Saturday. The vehicle is intended to help Mbewe attend training sessions and carry out official duties.

The team’s qualification was marked at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport, where Nyoni welcomed the squad personally and congratulated the players for delivering the victory he had expected.

“I expected nothing less than victory, and you have brought that victory. Congratulations,” Nyoni told the team.

Red Arrows set sights on final

Nyoni said qualification for the group stage should be treated as a platform for a bigger challenge, calling on Red Arrows to target a place in the CAF Confederation Cup final.

The Air Force commander urged the players to stay focused and build on their success against Kaizer Chiefs as they prepare for the next phase of the competition.

Red Arrows’ progress was also acknowledged by Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema, who congratulated Nyoni on the club’s achievement.

The Airmen will now enter the group stage aiming to maintain the momentum gained from their victory over Kaizer Chiefs and extend their run in the continental competition.
