Al-Ahli set strict integrity standards for new sporting director search

Al-Ahli Saudi have denied reports that they are negotiating with several candidates for their vacant sporting director position, including individuals facing corruption-related allegations.

A source close to the club’s new administration told Kooora that the reports were untrue.

“There is absolutely no truth to the club negotiating with any of the names being circulated. This is entirely untrue,” the source said.

The source added that candidates surrounded by integrity concerns could not be considered for the role.

“It is completely impossible for names surrounded by suspicions of corruption to be included among the candidates for the position,” they said. “The administration and the chief executive place the highest standards of transparency and integrity at the heart of the search and selection process for the new sporting director.”

Al-Ahli said two days ago that its search was being conducted with the highest levels of professionalism and expertise.

The club also stressed that it would not rush to appoint a candidate simply because of their reputation or profile. Instead, the selection process would be based on the highest professional standards, with the club’s history, present and future in mind.

Osama Hawsawi, Al-Ahli Saudi’s interim sporting director, formally resigned from the position on 27 September after only 24 days in the role.

The club is now seeking a permanent replacement.
