Marseille linked with return for Montpellier goalkeeper Simon Ngapandouetnbu

Cameroonian-French goalkeeper Simon Ngapandouetnbu is the subject of a reported move from Montpellier to Marseille, with the Ligue 1 club linked with a return for the 23-year-old.

Ngapandouetnbu joined Montpellier from Marseille on a free transfer in August 2025 and has a contract with the Ligue 2 club until 30 June 2028. The potential move would see him return to the club where he developed after progressing through Marseille’s youth and reserve sides.

He has started all nine of Montpellier’s Ligue 2 matches this season, playing every minute and keeping six clean sheets while conceding five goals. The goalkeeper’s current market value is listed at €3m.

Ngapandouetnbu was born in Foumban and holds Cameroon and France nationality. He stands 1.86m tall and is right-footed.

Marseille’s interest comes as the goalkeeper continues to establish himself as Montpellier’s first-choice player in the second tier. No transfer fee or probability has been given for the reported move, and there is no indication that an agreement has been reached.

For now, Ngapandouetnbu remains under contract at Montpellier, where he has been the undisputed starter at the beginning of the 2026-27 Ligue 2 campaign.
