Pyramids to close Air Defence Stadium for a month after Wadi Degla match

Pyramids will close the Air Defence Stadium for one month immediately after Thursday’s Egyptian Premier League fixture against Wadi Degla, with maintenance work and the planting of winter grass seed scheduled to begin.

The match will take place at 20:00 on Thursday, when Pyramids host Wadi Degla in the eighth round of the league.

The club said the stadium would remain closed while routine maintenance is carried out and the winter seed is planted. It will reopen once the work has been completed, allowing Pyramids to resume playing their remaining domestic and continental fixtures at the venue.

Pyramids’ next match in the Egypt League Cup will be against Smouha at Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria. The club’s fixtures will then be affected by an international break lasting almost two weeks, during which Egypt will face Malawi twice in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Following the return of the league, Pyramids are due to meet Al Ahly at Cairo Stadium on 23 November in the ninth round.

The club’s first home fixture in the Egypt League Cup is scheduled for 1 December, when Modern Sport will be the visitors.

Pyramids currently lead the Egyptian Premier League with 21 points from their opening seven matches.
