South Africa U15 side beaten by Kosovo after surrendering lead at FIFA World Cup

South Africa’s U15 national team were beaten 2-1 by Kosovo in their second match at the inaugural FIFA U15 Boys World Cup and Festival in Baku, Azerbaijan, on Sunday.

Selekedi Mogale’s side had taken the lead through Lesedi Hlalele, but Kosovo responded strongly after half-time to overturn the deficit and secure victory.

The defeat came after an impressive opening performance from South Africa, who began the tournament with an 8-0 win over the Maldives U15.

Tshiamo Mashishi scored twice in that one-sided match, while Keanu Moses, Bohlale Finger, Reatlegile Mosimane, Lesedi Hlalele, Tumelo Moerane and Inganathi Saliwa were also on the scoresheet.

South Africa now have an opportunity to recover when they face Anguilla later on Sunday at 17:30 South Africa time.

Mogale’s team will then complete their group-stage schedule with two matches on Monday. They meet Estonia at 09:30 SA time before facing France at 16:15.
