Aymen Hassouni penalty restores Wydad’s momentum as COD Meknes take charge

Wydad returned to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Union Touarga on Saturday in the fifth round of the Moroccan professional league.

Aymen Hassouni scored the only goal of the match in the ninth minute, converting an early penalty to give Wydad the lead.

Union Touarga were unable to find an equaliser as Wydad held on to secure all three points. The result ended a run of two successive draws for Wydad, who had shared the points with COD Meknes and Amal Tiznit in their previous two fixtures.

Wydad moved up to third place with eight points, while Union Touarga remained on seven points in seventh.

Elsewhere in the same round, COD Meknes defeated Amal Tiznit 2-1 to move top of the table.

Ayoub Lakhlefi opened the scoring for COD Meknes in the 16th minute before Tawfik Razouki doubled their advantage in the 82nd minute.

Amal Tiznit responded three minutes later through Zakaria Salhi, but COD Meknes held on for the victory.

The win took COD Meknes to 10 points at the summit, while Amal Tiznit stayed on four points in 12th place.
