PSG seek eighth straight win as Lyon visit Parc des Princes

Paris Saint-Germain host Olympique Lyonnais at the Parc des Princes on Monday, 26 October 2026, in a meeting between two Ligue 1 title contenders. The match is scheduled for 19:30 GMT, or 20:30 in the match context provided, and forms part of the eighth round of the championship.

Both sides have 14 points, with Lyon leading the table on goal difference and PSG in second. Paris arrive on a run of seven successive victories in all competitions, while Lyon will aim to build on a strong start to the season despite several absences in both squads.

Mahamad Sangare, presenter of the sports debate programme La VAR on Burkina info TV, has provided his analysis and predictions for the fixture.

Contrasting recent form

PSG appear to have recovered from their difficult start to the campaign. Their seven-match winning run has restored confidence and effectiveness, while their European performances have also included notable results against Manchester City and FC Barcelona.

The Paris attack has scored at least twice in each of its past four matches. That form gives Luis Enrique’s side considerable momentum, although the manager will have to adjust his plans because of a depleted squad.

Olympique Lyonnais moved to the top of the table through a consistent opening seven rounds, recording four wins, one draw and one defeat. However, they failed to win away to Paris FC, drawing 0-0, before losing 2-1 at Lens at Stade Bollaert, their first defeat in the competition.

Lyon responded with home victories against Crystal Palace, winning 3-2 in the Europa League, and Nice, whom they beat 2-1 in Ligue 1. Their attempt to make it three wins in a row ended on Thursday, when they were beaten 3-0 by Hoffenheim in the Europa League.

Significant absences

PSG will be without Marquinhos, Ousmane Dembele and Nuno Mendes. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is also expected to miss several months after suffering a cruciate ligament rupture.

Maghnes Akliouche and Ferran Torres could therefore be called upon to support Desire Doue, who has been particularly influential in recent matches. Paris will need to rely on its squad depth and attacking form.

Lyon are missing Openda and full-backs Kango, Tagliafico and Ouedraogo through injury. Their coach Paulo Fonseca must also cope without winger Nakamura, who is suspended following his sending-off against Nice.

Pavel Sulc remains hopeful of featuring despite being absent from Lyon’s Europa League match this week. Ernest Nuamah, with three Ligue 1 goals and one assist, remains a key attacking threat, although he has gone two league matches without scoring.

PSG had won six consecutive meetings with Lyon before losing 2-1 at home last season, a result that ended their run and demonstrated Lyon’s ability to upset the established order.

The recommended betting selections are a PSG win at 1.47, a 3-1 exact score at 9.5, both teams to score at 1.53, and more than 1.5 PSG goals at 1.35. Ferran Torres is priced at 2.00 to score at any time. A PSG total of fewer than 7.5 corners is listed at 1.42, based on the fact Paris recorded no more than seven corners in eight of their past nine meetings with Lyon. Lyon have returned from their past three away matches without a win, while both teams have had five three to recover after European matches. Odds may change.
