Club Africain host TP Mazembe on Sunday in the second preliminary round of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League, with a place in the group stage at stake.
The two sides drew 1-1 in the first leg in Lubumbashi and meet again in Tunisia for the decisive fixture. Both clubs are seeking a return to the competition’s final phase.
The match will be played at the Stade olympique Hammadi Agrebi in Rades, with kick-off at 19:00 France time and 19:00 in Lubumbashi. It will start at 18:00 in Tunisia and Kinshasa.
No broadcaster has been announced in France. Club Africain could provide free streaming through its Lefri9i App, which is available on the Play Store, as well as on its website or YouTube channel. The club announced those possible options on its social media accounts.
In Tunisia, the match will be shown free-to-air on beIN Sports Mena 1. Viewers in the Democratic Republic of the Congo can watch it on Canal+ Sport Afrique, although the channel number has not yet been confirmed.
Qualification permutations
Club Africain will qualify without the need for a penalty shootout with either a 0-0 draw or a victory. The Clubistes have not appeared in the African Champions League since the 2018-2019 season.
TP Mazembe, meanwhile, must win or draw 2-2 or higher to reach the group stage. The Corbeaux are aiming to return to the competition after missing the previous edition.
The first leg in Lubumbashi ended level after both teams scored in the space of two minutes. Kazema Baso put TP Mazembe ahead in the 38th minute, before Alain Kante equalised in the 39th.
The teams’ most recent meeting in Rades also ended in a draw, with the match finishing 0-0 in February 2019. That came after TP Mazembe had won the first leg 8-0.
