Antonio Rudiger delays Real Madrid future decision until spring amid Tottenham interest

Antonio Rüdiger is expected to postpone a decision on his future at Real Madrid until spring 2027, despite growing speculation linking the experienced defender with a move to Tottenham Hotspur and clubs in Saudi Arabia.

According to BILD, the 33-year-old wants to concentrate fully on his performances for the Spanish giants before considering his next career move. His current contract runs until June 2027 and includes an option for an additional year.

Rüdiger reportedly intends to assess the situation next spring, when it should become clearer whether Real Madrid are prepared to offer him another contract extension. Only if the club indicates that it does not intend to retain him would he seriously consider alternative destinations.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing the Germany international on a free transfer when his contract expires, provided Real Madrid do not extend his deal.

The Premier League club are understood to be monitoring developments rather than having completed a formal agreement. Saudi Pro League sides have also reportedly expressed interest in securing the defender’s services.

Rüdiger previously played in England with Chelsea between 2017 and 2022 before joining Real Madrid on a free transfer.

For now, the defender’s focus remains on his current club, where he continues to play an important role in the defensive setup.

The reported interest from England and Saudi Arabia has not prompted him to accelerate his decision-making, with the German preferring to wait until the spring before evaluating his options.

His experience, physical presence and familiarity with the Premier League could make him an attractive signing should he become available next summer.

However, much will depend on Real Madrid’s position regarding a new contract and whether the club exercises the option in his existing agreement.

Until then, Rüdiger is expected to remain focused on his responsibilities at the Santiago Bernabéu, leaving his long-term future unresolved.
