Alexander Isak urges Liverpool to target victory against in-form Brighton

Alexander Isak has insisted Liverpool must aim for all three points when they host Brighton & Hove Albion at Anfield on Sunday, despite expecting a difficult test against one of the Premier League’s in-form sides.

The striker acknowledged Brighton’s quality but stressed that Liverpool cannot afford to approach the encounter with anything less than a winning mentality.

“It’s definitely one of the tougher opponents that you have in the league but I think in the Premier League in today’s football, there are no easy games.

“So, I don’t think you need any motivation to do that, I think it’s already there. We know it’s going to be tough, but we play at home and we have to go to win,” Isak told Liverpoolfc.com.

Brighton arrive at Anfield in impressive form, having won four consecutive Premier League matches while scoring 15 goals without conceding. Their attacking threat will provide a significant challenge for Liverpool, who are looking to extend their recent winning run across all competitions.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have recorded three successive victories against LASK, Brentford and Villarreal, giving them renewed confidence ahead of the weekend fixture.

Isak heads into the encounter after scoring the decisive goal in Liverpool’s 2-1 comeback victory over Brentford last weekend.

The forward returned to the starting lineup after missing two matches through injury and has made an encouraging start to his Premier League campaign, registering five goals in six appearances.

Despite his impressive numbers, the Sweden international is not setting himself a specific goalscoring target for the season.

“No, not really. Just try to be on the scoresheet for every game and try to make them count as important ones as well,” he explained.

His emphasis on scoring decisive goals reflects his determination to make a meaningful contribution to Liverpool’s results rather than focus solely on individual statistics.

Sunday’s meeting offers Liverpool an opportunity to maintain their momentum against a Brighton side that has demonstrated considerable attacking firepower and defensive resilience.

Isak’s return to fitness and goalscoring form will be encouraging for Liverpool as they prepare for the challenge.

However, the striker knows his side must deliver a strong performance to overcome the visitors.

With both teams looking to strengthen their position in the Premier League standings, Liverpool will hope their recent victories provide the foundation for another important result at Anfield.
