Jan Gyamerah returns to Elversberg training ahead of RB Leipzig clash
Jan Gyamerah has returned to training with SV Elversberg after experiencing muscular problems, offering encouragement ahead of Saturday’s Bundesliga away fixture against RB Leipzig.
The 31-year-old right-back was back on the training pitch with his teammates this week after being substituted during Elversberg’s recent 4-3 victory over FC Augsburg. However, it remains unclear whether he has resumed the full training programme.
Elversberg head coach Vincent Wagner previously explained that Gyamerah could have continued playing against Augsburg but was withdrawn as a precaution because of his earlier muscular problems.
“He didn’t necessarily have to come off, but he was feeling it again a little. We didn’t want to take any risks with Jan,” Wagner said after the match.
The defender’s return to training raises hopes that he will be available for the trip to Leipzig, although a final decision will depend on his fitness in the coming days.
Wagner hinted that several players could return for Saturday’s encounter, suggesting that Elversberg might receive a boost ahead of the demanding fixture.
“I am very optimistic that we will see one or two surprises on Saturday,” the coach said, without providing further details.
According to BILD, Gyamerah is likely to be an option again, although his potential involvement has not been officially confirmed.
His availability would be welcome news for Elversberg, who have had to manage several injury concerns in recent weeks. However, Luca Sirch has also impressed when deputising at right-back, potentially giving Wagner another selection decision to consider.
Elversberg travel to face RB Leipzig on Saturday, October 24, with Gyamerah’s fitness expected to become clearer as preparations continue.
