Golden Arrows sack Pitso Dladla after disastrous start to South African Premiership season
Pitso Dladla has parted ways with Golden Arrows following a disappointing start to the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season, bringing his brief spell at the South African club to an end less than four months after his appointment.
According to reports, Dladla and Golden Arrows have officially separated after the team managed just one victory in their opening eight league matches, raising serious concerns about their performances and attacking efficiency.
The 46-year-old took charge of the Durban-based club in June 2026, replacing Manqoba Mngqithi, after building his reputation with Durban City, whom he guided to the Nedbank Cup title in May.
His appointment generated optimism among Golden Arrows supporters, with expectations that he would translate his previous success into positive results in the Premiership. However, the team struggled to find consistency under his leadership.
Golden Arrows recorded five draws, two defeats and just one win in their first eight league matches, a run that reportedly increased pressure on the coach and ultimately contributed to his departure.
Dladla had previously admitted that his team needed to improve its finishing in front of goal, while maintaining confidence that the players could turn their fortunes around. However, the disappointing results proved costly as the club moved to end his tenure.
Attention will now shift to finding a successor capable of stabilising the team and improving its performances in the coming weeks.
Former Golden Arrows coach Mandla Ncikazi has previously been mentioned as a potential candidate for the position, although the club are yet to officially announce who will take charge.
Dladla’s departure highlights the pressure on coaches in South African football, with his tenure ending less than four months after he was appointed to lead the club.
