Itumeleng Khune reflects on Kaizer Chiefs suspension in The Car Wash 2.0

Episode 12 of The Car Wash 2.0 features Itumeleng Khune, who discusses the most difficult period of his long career, including his suspension by Kaizer Chiefs in December 2023.

The veteran goalkeeper was suspended after a disciplinary hearing, removed as club captain and instructed to complete a corrective programme before returning to the Village.

Khune, who spent more than 25 years wearing the Amakhosi gold and black, describes the episode as a humbling experience. It forced him to confront difficult questions about professionalism and accountability.

He also speaks about the uncertainty that followed, the silence of being away from football and the determination that helped him continue through the setback.

The appearance by Mzansi’s Number One forms part of the latest episode of the show, which is brought to audiences by Carling Black Label in celebration of the Carling Knockout.

The competition is described as a tournament where champion fans take control, with the episode focusing on Khune’s experiences both on and away from the pitch.
