Mamelodi Sundowns development goalkeeping coach Shuaib Walters has returned to Scotland to complete the final stage of his UEFA B coaching licence.
The former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper is back at Oriam, where he will undergo the practical assessment required to finish the course. Walters confirmed his return in a post on his official X account, accompanied by a video from the training facility.
“Back at Oriam completing the final phase, practical assessment,” Walters wrote.
His latest visit follows a period of study in Scotland in August, when he continued his coaching development through the Scottish Football Association.
Walters previously shared details of the programme, which included coaching candidates from several parts of the world. The course involved classroom work, match analysis and practical sessions on the pitch.
He also thanked the Scottish FA and the instructors involved as he moved through the various stages of the qualification.
Walters is now applying the experience gained from the course to his work with young goalkeepers at Sundowns. He joined the club’s development setup in 2024 and is responsible for helping develop goalkeepers within the academy structures at Chloorkop.
Before moving into coaching, Walters represented South Africa at the 2010 FIFA World Cup as a reserve goalkeeper.
The UEFA B licence is the latest step in his coaching education as he continues working with the next generation of goalkeepers at Mamelodi Sundowns.
