Borussia Dortmund secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory away to Sabah on Tuesday evening in the third round of the UEFA Champions League league phase.
S. Guirassy was the decisive figure for the German side, opening the scoring after only 10 minutes as Dortmund made a confident start to the match.
Sabah responded before half-time, with Aden Mccar restoring parity in the 39th minute. The hosts had shown they were capable of competing with their more fancied opponents, but Dortmund regained the lead shortly after the interval.
Guirassy struck again in the 53rd minute, finishing a move created by Joey Veerman, to put Borussia Dortmund back in front.
Sabah pressed for another equaliser but could not find a way through, leaving Dortmund to hold on for a valuable away win. The result strengthens the Ruhr club’s European ambitions, while Sabah will reflect on a performance in which they pushed one of the competition’s leading sides all the way.
