Silas takes another step towards Mainz 05 comeback after returning to full training
Silas has made further progress in his recovery at FSV Mainz 05 after completing his first full training session with the team following a serious leg injury.
According to the Allgemeine Zeitung, the 28-year-old forward participated in the entire training programme on Tuesday, marking another important milestone in his rehabilitation. He had previously returned to partial team training last week after suffering a fractured tibia and fibula in March.
The injury occurred during Mainz’s UEFA Conference League match against Sigma Olomouc and kept the attacker out of action for approximately seven months.
Silas’s return to full training represents encouraging progress, but Mainz are determined to manage his recovery carefully after such a lengthy absence. The club does not want to risk a premature return that could jeopardise his rehabilitation.
According to Bild, the forward is still expected to require at least another three weeks before he can seriously be considered for a place in the matchday squad. His return to competitive football will therefore depend on how he responds to the increased training workload.
Mainz sporting director Christian Heidel previously described the striker’s recovery as being well ahead of schedule, highlighting the progress he has made since undergoing rehabilitation.
The Bundesliga club will continue to reintegrate Silas gradually as he works towards regaining his match fitness.
Although his return to competitive action is not imminent, completing a full training session is a significant step forward for the forward, who will hope to contribute to Mainz’s campaign once he is fully fit.
