Wydad part ways with Sergio Paulo as Nasreddine Nabi emerges as potential replacement
Wydad Athletic Club have reached an agreement with Portuguese coach Sergio Paulo to terminate his contract by mutual consent, with Tunisian tactician Nasreddine Nabi among the candidates to take charge of the Moroccan giants.
Sources cited by Africasoccer say the decision followed a meeting between Wydad president Ibrahim Al-Asri and Paulo on Tuesday morning, during which both parties agreed to end their working relationship.
The Casablanca-based club are now looking to appoint a replacement as they seek to improve their results and performances this season.
Nabi among candidates for Wydad job
Former Raja coach Nasreddine Nabi is reportedly being considered to take over at Wydad, although an official appointment has yet to be confirmed.
The Tunisian is among the candidates being assessed as the club’s management looks to steer the Red Club back towards positive results.
A move to Wydad would put Nabi in contention for another coaching role in Moroccan football after his departure from Raja before the start of the current season.
Nabi left Raja after disagreements
Nabi left Raja following tension and disagreements in his relationship with Portuguese sporting director Ruggero Matias.
Wydad’s search for a new coach comes as the club look to improve their performances during the campaign, with the management expected to determine who will lead the team in the coming period.
