Zamalek forward Ahmed Sherif opens up on fatigue after narrow Petrojet win
Zamalek forward Ahmed Sherif has admitted that fatigue was a challenge for the team before their 1-0 victory over Petrojet in the Egyptian Premier League, citing a demanding schedule that saw them play three matches in 10 days.
The White Knights secured all three points in their seventh-round encounter at Borg El Arab Stadium, with Sherif scoring the decisive goal in the 26th minute to hand his side a narrow victory.
Speaking to ON Sport after the match, Sherif expressed satisfaction with the result, explaining that the team had been dealing with tiredness following recent travels and a congested fixture schedule.
“Thank God, we were tired recently. We came from travelling and played three matches in ten days,” he said.
Despite the physical demands, the Zamalek forward praised the collective effort of his teammates, insisting that securing the three points was their main objective heading into the encounter.
“We earned three points, which is what we wanted from the match, and the result came after a great effort from everyone in the team,” he added.
Sherif also paid tribute to Zamalek’s supporters, acknowledging their unwavering backing of the team wherever they play.
The forward said the fans’ commitment deserved to be rewarded with maximum effort from the players on the pitch.
“The Zamalek fans support us everywhere and deserve that we ‘die for them’. Thank you for their support,” he stated.
The victory provides a boost for Zamalek as they continue their Egyptian Premier League campaign, while Sherif’s match-winning contribution underlined his importance to the team.
However, the demanding schedule remains a challenge for the Cairo giants, who will need to manage their players’ workload carefully as they prepare for their upcoming fixtures.
