Juventus host Stade Rennais seeking Europa League response after weekend defeats

Juventus welcome Stade Rennais to the Allianz Stadium in Turin on Thursday, 22 October 2026, as both sides look to recover from disappointing domestic results and maintain their unbeaten starts to the Europa League league phase.

The match will begin at 16:45 GMT.

Juventus were beaten 3-0 at home by Lazio on Sunday, a result which gave them their second defeat in seven matches in all competitions, alongside three wins and two draws. The Bianconeri had previously defeated Celta Vigo 2-1 last Thursday, having opened their European campaign with a 5-0 victory against NEC Nijmegen.

Those two wins leave Juventus among the 10 teams to have maintained a perfect record in the league phase. They will also draw confidence from their home form in Europe, having won their past four matches at the Allianz Stadium – their best run at the venue since December 2021.

Stade Rennais also suffered a setback at the weekend, losing a seven-goal thriller 4-3 against Paris FC. That ended the momentum created by their narrow 2-1 victory over OFI Crete last week, although the French club remain unbeaten in the Europa League after one win and one draw.

Rennes have recorded the competition’s lowest number of shots conceded, with 13, and the best expected goals against figure at 0.79. Their away form is less encouraging, however, with no victories in their past three matches on the road – one draw and two defeats – and no goals scored in two of those games.

Juventus are expected to benefit from home advantage despite a number of significant absences. Rennes will also be without their leading scorer, while their recent away record could prove a concern against an Italian side that has been strong in European fixtures at home.

The clubs have met only once before, in the 1999 UEFA Intertoto Cup final. Juventus won the tie 4-2 on aggregate, drawing 2-2 away from home on 24 August 1999 after a 2-0 victory in Turin on 10 August 1999.

That defeat formed part of a difficult record for Stade Rennais in Italy, with the club having lost all four of their European away matches there against four different opponents.
