TS Galaxy coach Mtsweni backs side to upset Kaizer Chiefs in Carling Knockout

TS Galaxy coach Esau Mtsweni believes his team can eliminate Kaizer Chiefs when the clubs meet in the Carling Knockout Cup Round of 16.

The tie was confirmed in last Wednesday’s draw, giving the Rockets a difficult assignment against the Phefeni Glamour Boys.

Mtsweni accepted the scale of the challenge but said the occasion should provide enough motivation for his players to perform at their best.

“It’s a very tough game to be honest with you, but at the same time I’m excited,” said Mtsweni.

“It should be an exciting game, and the players should be motivated and excited as well.

“Remember, there’s a difference between a league match and a cup game. It’s a different game. Anyone can win it and hopefully it will be us. And we’ve done it before; we can still do it again.”

The coach said TS Galaxy would consider changing their approach and team combination before taking on the Soweto giants.

He explained that securing victory would be important not only for progress in the cup competition but also for building confidence ahead of the team’s next fixture.

“I think for us, it would be nice for us to use a different combination going to Chiefs game because all we need to do is to get a win so that we can get motivated going to our next match,” he said.

“So, we’re trying to find a different combination just to get ready for the next match.”
