Wiliete de Benguela head coach Beto Bianchi was reportedly taken to hospital following an alleged altercation involving Mamelodi Sundowns assistant coach Steve Komphela after their CAF Champions League qualifying match ended in a goalless draw.

According to reports, Bianchi clashed with Komphela after the final whistle of the first-leg encounter, with the Angolan coach said to have sustained injuries that required hospital treatment.

The incident reportedly occurred after a tightly contested match in which neither side managed to find the breakthrough, leaving the tie finely balanced ahead of the return leg.

The goalless draw had appeared to be the main talking point of the first leg, but the reported confrontation has since overshadowed the result. Bianchi was reportedly unable to attend the post-match press conference, with his assistant taking his place and confirming that the head coach had been hospitalised.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, and the allegations involving Komphela have not been independently established. Neither club’s account of the alleged confrontation nor any formal disciplinary outcome has been confirmed in the reports available.

The two teams are scheduled to meet again in South Africa for the return leg, with a place in the CAF Champions League group stage at stake. The incident could draw further attention if the clubs or CAF issue official statements in the coming days.
