Paris Saint-Germain host FC Barcelona at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday, 20 October 2026, at 19:00 GMT in the third matchday of the UEFA Champions League 2026-27 league phase. Nasser Eddy, NCI Sport consultant and presenter of European Champions League coverage on radio Nostalgie, expects a closely fought contest between the holders and one of the leading candidates to replace them.
Paris Saint-Germain arrive after an impressive 4-2 victory over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium last Wednesday. Luis Enrique’s side have won their past six matches in all competitions, with Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue both scoring in their two most recent games.
Their Champions League attack has produced 10 goals in two matches, although they have conceded three, all in second halves. Their corner record has been less consistent, alternating between victories and defeats, with their latest success in that category coming against Strasbourg. PSG’s overall confidence has been strengthened by the form of Dembele and Doue.
FC Barcelona have made an even more emphatic start. They have won all 11 of their matches this season, scoring 48 goals, including nine in two Champions League games. They have also recorded more corners than their opponents in each of those European fixtures.
This will, however, be their first major examination against a serious contender for the trophy. The side led by Hansi Flick have conceded an average of one goal per game in all competitions, suggesting their defence has not been entirely dominant. Their attacking quality has so far compensated for those lapses, with Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi among the players making the difference.
Yamal is the standout player to watch after starring in Barcelona’s 4-1 Champions League win over Galatasaray on Tuesday and scoring in Saturday’s 5-2 La Liga victory at Real Betis. He has nine goals and 10 assists in 11 appearances this season, and his form could prove decisive in Paris.
The fixture has produced memorable Champions League drama over the past 13 years, including Barcelona’s famous “remontada” in March 2017. Last season, the French side won 2-1 at Camp Nou. Across all competitions, the overall record is level at six wins apiece and four draws, with both teams scoring around 30 goals.
The suggested predictions are a 2-2 draw at 10, with the match result offered at 4.57. The expectation that both teams will score at least twice is priced at 2.29. Barcelona are favoured in the corner market at 2.11.
Dembele is priced at 1.93 to score at any time, while Yamal is available at 2.16. The odds may change.
