Al Ahly begin journey home after comeback win over Kitara

Al Ahly have left Uganda and begun their return journey to Cairo after overcoming Kitara in the CAF Confederation Cup.

The Egyptian side recovered from a goal down to beat Kitara 2-1 in the first leg of the competition’s second preliminary round.

Al Ahly are due to arrive in Cairo on Sunday evening, with their attention now turning to the Egyptian Premier League. They will face Al Qanah in their seventh-round fixture on Wednesday, 21 October.

Kitara took the lead in the 30th minute when Wahab Gadavi finished from inside the penalty area. The goal followed a cross from the left, with the Ugandan team taking advantage of the opportunity to move ahead.

Al Ahly responded after the interval, with Omar El Saai and Zizo scoring to complete the comeback and secure victory.

The strike was Omar El Saai’s first goal for Al Ahly in all competitions. He has made 16 appearances for the club since joining from Ismaily.

The result came after Al Ahly’s latest Egyptian Premier League match, a 2-0 victory over Zamalek. They will now resume their league campaign against Al Qanah on Wednesday.
