Ansu Fati credits Paul Pogba for easing his transition at Monaco
Ansu Fati has praised Paul Pogba for playing a significant role in helping him adapt to life at AS Monaco, describing the former Manchester United midfielder as a big brother who supported him during a challenging period in his career.
The 23-year-old forward developed a close relationship with Pogba during the 2025/26 campaign after joining Monaco following his departure from Barcelona. Fati explained that the Frenchman’s ability to speak Spanish made communication easier and helped him settle into his new surroundings.
“He is like a big brother to me,” Fati said, as quoted by Maxifoot. “Last year, in particular, he was a huge help to me. He speaks very good Spanish, so things were much simpler.”
Although Pogba left Monaco in August, the pair have maintained their friendship and continue to meet whenever their schedules allow.
“We were together again on Friday. Whenever we can, we try to chat and spend time together. We talk a lot about football, but also about life in general,” Fati added.
The Spanish forward also expressed his hope that Pogba will return to competitive football and enjoy the game again, highlighting the strong bond they developed during their time together.
Fati joined Monaco in search of a fresh start after struggling to establish himself at Barcelona. Injuries have also interrupted his progress, but he recently returned to action and scored in Monaco’s 2-1 Conference League victory over CSKA Sofia.
With his confidence growing, Fati will now aim to build on that performance and secure a regular place in Monaco’s starting lineup as he looks to revive his career.
