Kaizer Chiefs Ladies miss out on promotion play-off place

Kaizer Chiefs Ladies’ hopes of promotion have ended despite a 1-0 victory over UJ Ladies in their final SAFA Women’s Provincial League match.

Wits University secured the promotion play-off position by beating JVW 2-0 at Sturrock Park on Saturday.

Kaizer Chiefs, known as Amakhosazana, finished their inaugural campaign with a win over fourth-placed UJ Ladies at Naturena village. Refilwe Maseko scored the only goal of the match.

The result extended Chiefs’ unbeaten run to 16 matches, during which they recorded 15 victories. However, their strong finish was not enough to move them into second place.

Wits Ladies claimed the play-off spot after ending the league season as runners-up to Mamelodi Sundowns’ B team. Sundowns are not eligible for promotion because their first team competes in the Hollywoodbets Super League.

Mamelodi Sundowns completed their campaign with a 4-0 victory over Mito Stars Ladies. They finished top of the table on 73 points, one ahead of Wits University, while Kaizer Chiefs ended their first season with 70 points.
