CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup group-stage draws set for 28 October

The draws for the group stages of the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup will take place in Egypt on Wednesday, 28 October, a source at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has told FilGoal.com.

The event will be held at the headquarters of the Egyptian Football Association in 6 October City.

CAF will also organise a workshop for representatives of the clubs attending the draws. The workshop is scheduled for 29 and 30 October, according to the source.

The group-stage draw dates come during the preliminary rounds of both competitions. First-leg matches in the round of 32 are being played this week, with the return fixtures due to take place next week.

In the CAF Champions League, Zamalek began their campaign with a 1-0 victory over the Rwandan Army. Pyramids also secured a 1-0 win, beating South Sudan’s Al-Merrikh Bentiu in their first-leg tie.

ZED drew 1-1 with Tanzania’s Azam in the CAF Confederation Cup, while Al Ahly are scheduled to visit Uganda’s Kitara on Saturday at 16:00.

Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa are the holders of the CAF Champions League, while USM Alger hold the CAF Confederation Cup title.
