CR Belouizdad’s CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round first-leg match against AS Douanes has been postponed following a directive from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

The Algerian club confirmed the development ahead of the match, which had been scheduled for Saturday, 17 October, in Mauritania.

CR Belouizdad had already travelled to Mauritania in preparation for the encounter but will now leave the country following the postponement.

The fixture is expected to be rescheduled for early November, although a new date has yet to be officially confirmed.

The postponement follows an intervention by CAS in the ongoing dispute surrounding the tie, with the directive requiring the match to be delayed pending further developments in the case.

The decision disrupts preparations for both sides as they seek to secure a place in the group stage of Africa’s secondary club competition.

AS Douanes and CR Belouizdad are competing in the second preliminary round, where the two-legged tie will determine which team advances to the next stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Further details regarding the rescheduled fixture are expected to be communicated once the relevant authorities confirm a new date.

CR Belouizdad will await the revised schedule before making further arrangements for the continental assignment, while the postponement leaves both clubs facing an adjustment to their immediate competition plans.
