Tim Sukazi says deleted Pirates ‘bribe’ post went ‘overboard’

TS Galaxy president Tim Sukazi has explained why the club removed a social media post depicting an apparent “bribe” ahead of their Betway Premiership match against Orlando Pirates.

The Rockets have recently attracted attention for their posts on social media, using them to taunt opponents. Their campaign included material aimed at Pirates before they turned their attention to Kaizer Chiefs.

The deleted graphic was generated using artificial intelligence. It showed Pirates media officer Thandi Merafe chasing a man wearing TS Galaxy colours, while Sukazi’s trademark fedora and what appeared to be an envelope were also featured.

Sukazi said he instructed the club’s social media team to remove the post after deciding that the joke had gone too far.

Speaking to Andile Ncube on Metro FM’s Sports Nights Amplified, he said the graphic referred to suggestions made after Pirates defeated TS Galaxy 6-0 last season.

“They [social media team] reminded me of last season when Pirates beat us 6-0 and people said they bribed us so they say they wanted to banter using that angle of where the people’s minds are already,” Sukazi said.

“I said I completely understand it, but they should take it down because it was overboard.”
