Barcelona are considering a move for Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Kroupi as they plan to strengthen their attack in 2027, with manager Hansi Flick reportedly preferring the France Under-? striker to Victor Osimhen.
Kroupi, who is 20, has particularly impressed Flick, according to El Nacional. The German coach is said to value the forward’s room for development and believes his long-term potential makes him a more attractive option than Osimhen.
Kroupi scored 13 goals in the Premier League last season, demonstrating his ability to perform effectively at the highest level despite his age. Flick’s preference is understood to reflect a desire to sign a player who could remain part of Barcelona’s project for several seasons rather than simply provide an immediate solution.
Victor Osimhen offers a different profile. The Nigeria striker is known for his physical strength, finishing and experience in major competitions, qualities that could address Barcelona’s needs straight away.
However, Flick appears to favour Kroupi because of his potential to improve and the possibility of building the club’s attack around him over the long term. The reported preference does not mean a deal has been agreed, but it could influence Barcelona’s recruitment plans as they search for an attacking addition for 2027.
Kroupi deal would be expensive
Kroupi’s contract with Bournemouth runs until June 2030, making any transfer difficult and potentially costly for Barcelona. Transfermarkt values the forward at 70m euros, while Bournemouth would be in a position to demand a substantial fee for his departure.
Kroupi earns an annual salary of 1,192,975 euros, equivalent to 775,433,750 FCFA.
The financial demands of the deal could therefore prove decisive, even if Flick regards Kroupi as the preferred candidate. Barcelona will have to weigh the forward’s long-term prospects against the immediate impact Osimhen could offer.
Barcelona will soon play their ninth match of the Spanish league season against Real Betis.
