Pyramids name Mostafa Ziko in attack for CAF Champions League tie

Pyramids coach Rulani Mokwena has named Mostafa “Ziko” to lead the attack against South Sudanese champions Al-Merrikh Bentiu in the first leg of their CAF Champions League round-of-32 tie.

Ziko will be supported by a three-man attacking line-up of Abdelrahman Magdy, Mahmoud Zlaka and Ahmed Abdelkader, with the match due to take place shortly.

Pyramids’ starting XI is:

Goalkeeper: Ahmed El Shenawy

Defenders: Mohamed Chibi, Mahmoud Marei, Ahmed Samy, Eyad El Askalany

Midfielders: Ahmed Tawfik, Mahmoud Saber, Abdelrahman Magdy, Mahmoud Zlaka, Ahmed Abdelkader

Forward: Mostafa “Ziko”

The kick-off time was changed in the final hours before the match. The game was initially scheduled to begin at 16:30, but the match commissioner decided it should start at 16:15 because of rain and the early onset of darkness.

Al-Merrikh Bentiu rejected the decision to bring the match forward by 15 minutes.

The change was made because Juba International Stadium does not have floodlights, meaning the fixture had to begin earlier.

Juba International Stadium has a capacity of 12,000 spectators.

Al-Merrikh Bentiu had previously announced that its supporters would be allowed to attend the match against Pyramids free of charge.
