Abu Qir Fertilizers appoint Haitham Shaaban after Magdy Abdelaty resignation

Abu Qir Fertilizers have appointed Haitham Shaaban as their new head coach following the resignation of Magdy Abdelaty.

FilGoal.com understands that the 47-year-old will take charge of training on Thursday as Abu Qir Fertilizers prepare to face Al Masry in the league.

The two sides will meet in the seventh round of the league on Monday.

Shaaban has previously managed Haras El Hodood, Tala’ea El Gaish, El Dakhleya, Petrojet and Ceramica Cleopatra.

Abdelaty stepped down after Abu Qir Fertilizers were beaten 2-1 by Asyut Petroleum in the sixth round of the league.

The result gave Asyut Petroleum their first victory of the season in all competitions. Before the match, they had recorded two draws and four defeats in the league and Egypt Capital Cup.

The win lifted Asyut Petroleum to five points and 16th place in the table.

Abu Qir Fertilizers, meanwhile, remain on three points in 18th after suffering their fifth consecutive defeat.

Abdelaty had taken over from Amir Azmy Meghaed, who had guided Abu Qir Fertilizers to promotion to the Premier League.
